We are located on scenic Bayou Liberty just outside of New Orleans.
Our home was designed by noted local architect, Albert Ledner, a former student of Frank Lloyd Wright.  It is named Vue Haus because every room has lots of windows and each has a special vista.
Our property has been developed to attract wildlife and we have had almost 100 different species of birds sighted in our yard.
At certain times of the year a dozen hummingbirds can be seen at the feeders. Butterflies flit from flower to flower as they sip nectar and special plants are provided for them to lay their eggs.
Because we are limited in space, we have had only miniature animals, including rabbits, goats, chickens and horses. Andy designed and built our little barn so our minis can be cool in summer and warm and dry in the winter.
There are cameras in the barn to keep an eye on the mares when foaling time arrives. So far, we have been able to attend each birth. Since only a few foals are born each year, we are able to really bond with them and give them the attention they each deserve.
The horses are on a regular worming schedule and their hooves are trimmed every 6 weeks by the farrier. A specialized feeding program provides each horse with the best nutrition available. Vaccines are administered as recommended by our vet. A local horse trainer who practices the “Resistance Free” method of Richard Shrake, works with us to get the babies off to a good start and she helps teach the mature horses to pull a cart. We love our minis and show them off at local parades and picnics to help the public appreciate the little ones.
We have just begun to show them and are excited by the successes we have had. Check out our show horse page!
